Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

1 Second (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a music guessing game: you hear a short clip of a song and try to guess it. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used. We’ve deliberately kept data collection to the minimum needed to run the game.

Information we collect

  • An anonymous identifier. The first time you open the app it creates an anonymous account (a random ID) so your progress can be saved. This is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any real-world identity.
  • Gameplay & usage data. Which games you play, songs you hear, and playlists or artists you open, along with timestamps. This powers the stats on your Profile tab and helps us improve and curate the game.
  • Basic technical data. Standard information needed to deliver content reliably and securely (for example, network requests handled by our hosting providers).

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or photos. The app does not record audio and does not use your microphone. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use data

We use the data above only to provide the game and your Profile stats, to improve and curate content, and to keep the service reliable and secure. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Third-party services

The app relies on a few service providers that process data on our behalf to make it work:

  • Apple— song previews, metadata, and artwork are provided by the public iTunes Search API, and preview audio is streamed from Apple-hosted URLs. Apple’s privacy policy applies to that content.
  • Supabase — hosts the database and the anonymous account system.
  • Cloudflare — hosts and delivers playlist cover images.
  • Vercel— hosts the backend that serves the app’s content.

Data retention & your choices

Anonymous gameplay data is kept while the app is in use and cannot be tied back to you personally. Deleting the app removes the anonymous identifier from your device. To request deletion of data associated with your device, contact us at the address below.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
